In this video, I’ll show you how to learn networking from scratch, what concepts actually matter, which free resources to use, and how to turn networking theory into practical skills.

Instead of memorizing the OSI model from a textbook, you’ll learn networking by actually observing packets, building networks, breaking things, and seeing what happens at the protocol level.

@Mr-Fact-Finder-007 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

I am from sales background but want to switch to cybersecurity field.
Are the topics mentioned enough to learn networking deeply or do need to cover other things too.

Im a beginner and wants to start my journey in IT to get to Cybersecurity and i started learn in networkchuck academy + jeremy it lab CCNA courses and will take a CCNA test in january

@ShriUdupa · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

Thanks

@d.wonrei · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

Do you have to be good at mathematics for cybersecurity?? I suck a maths😢

@jc_02 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

When is the network+ course going to be done?

@stavros152 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

That's a small Taboo i've had since i started making my own steps and survey about Cybersecurity… i knew I'd need to start from Networking Mostly, and that was the moment I've left in the corner every Kali, Python, Book, etc and just fall with the head insite Network+ to Understand mostly and not just pass the test. So i made it, and NOW's the time i mostly Realise that YES – I learning the Anatomy of a Network is the Biggest secret to break it – just as everything Else! So I guessed im in a good road, even from the time i learned how to make stupid CLI things, like using the suitable protocol, like ssh/telnet, to connect to a router with unchanged, default, exposed credentials from the internet…

~ Before learning how to break Something, Learn how it Works! ~

@silkroad3068 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

@NerdBuffs · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

Would you recommend Network+ before A+ if you intend to do Security+ after?

@nurirdina7945 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

This is so genuinely helpful as beginner. I have watch few videos mention in this video, but never connect it to a framework for learning networking. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS

@TealDaubs · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

I fucked up, took cyber security and linux instead and it's FUCKING MEEEEE

@templar_of_god · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

Networking is fun!

@Anto-v_Lin · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

What about learning Jeremy It lab, He explains about Lab too?

@dark-g3u-f7i · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

i just recently started watching prof, Chuck networking. cuz. it will be help for my cloud computing studies

@nederghanmi2660 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

cisco packet is nothing dude just learn some mpls networks on gn3 and some ospf some federateurs will be good to cver some things maybe add acls firewalls vpn ipsec that s it u ll learn evrything in one network

@ghosted18665 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

whenever I got stuck in a problem like this I always goon to networking and then suddenly after that it becomes easier to understand
if you think I am lying, try it first by yourself

@andrewpohl8519 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

can assure, at 20 i got a job where i started to learn a lot of networking, since i have talked to many people who are in cyber security 'trying to get into networking' I understand much of what they talk about. Now I am trying to get my certs..

@JQ-hy7ko · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

I have hit that ceiling

@volshebork · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

Every cybersecurity professional I worth with that is actually good at their job has a high level understanding of networking. Every single one that is bad, does not. Jeremy's IT Lab is also worth mentioning.

@aphleesegurtra2820 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

What's the ending track?

@malikibarra4015 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

after years I'm finally doing ccna lol i get it now

@neloth9874 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

little tip: when using Cisco lab(vm) there is some mode to enable 7 layers of OSI model which let you see what programs going through what layers..

@p.aman21 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

I want to learn but don't even have a laptop 🥲

@cosmokramer9139 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

1:40 big question about WireShark, can I use this while browsing the open internet to see how things interact?

@kalseto7836 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

I want to learn how to program automatization programs wuth python, and the best way I though was by automatization networks, but I finding myself in front a crazy shit called networking.

@leomysky · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

Could not agree more! A strong foundation in networking can take you far!

@RichardBejtlich41 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

4:30 hey, I wrote that! 👏

@whythough52 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

@trioter4209 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

Leanronf this in collagw rn😢

@elpo5239 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

My bachelors has a course in networking, and from the several available lecturers I got assigned to the one who is famously strict and feared by my friends

It's hell. Learning the layers, subnetting, routing table, scouring the ospf packets through wireshark, DNS, and so much more. Many of my friends hated the course. Many times I didn't sleep from repeatedly restarting my GNS3 vms while doing the labs

From all of my courses in bachelor, networking is the toughest one I got. And it's also the best course just from how much I learned from it

@AnalogEverything · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

I LOVE Professor Messer ! Hes my GO TO ever since I was in locklin tech school 5 years ago

@juanc.6851 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

@7SAVI0R · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

Learning networking concepts is infinitely more interesting than coding to me. Coding made me want to die in college.

@marcusaurelius3487 · October 21, 2026 at 11:13 pm

The amount of "cybersecurity experts" that don't know the difference between a router or a switch, is laughable, or anything network related is laughable, and should have their opinions immediately disregarded (99% of Youtube)
