Slimmers World Philippines – Read this before you join!

I’ve already come out with posts about Gold’s Gym and Fitness First Philippines so I thought it was only right that I publish a post about Slimmers World as well, to bring things to full circle.

This is post is very much like my Gold’s Gym post. It’s a collection of information about the Slimmers World that I found online. I thought it might be useful to those who are thinking of joining but are undecided because of a lack of information.

Before I start though, be sure to check out our local group buying sites. You never know if there’s a deal for the gym that you want to enroll in:

Top Group Buying Sites in the Philippines

Anyway, let’s get this post started already. I’ll be going through things point by point.

Slimmers World Philippines

Things you need to know about Slimmers World Philippines

Let’s start with the important stuff, price.

Slimmers World rates are a lot cheaper than either Gold’s Gym or Fitness First. What makes them cheaper is their constant promo giveaways and their lifetime membership. A couple of points to keep in mind about how their agents and promos work before I go to the range of prices for their membership:

  • There’s almost always a promo. They might tell you that it’s going to end in a couple of days or in a week to get you to sign up immediately but that’s their normal spiel.
  • If they tell you there’s no promo or if you feel that the price is too high, find another agent and ask for a better deal.
  • I’ve read that in some instances the agents will allow you do pay down payments just so you sign up. So if you can’t pay in full, try to negotiate. They’re trying to fill a quota so they will stretch things  a bit to get you to join.
  • I’ve read also that you might want to try enrolling near the end of the month since that’s when their quota count is about to end I think so they’re a bit more flexible then (naghahabol).

Now on to the actual price ranges. You’ll get different ones for every branch or agent you talk to because they have a good bit of freedom when it comes to the payment setup that they can give you.

But just so we have a baseline, from my research, the regular Rates for Slimmers World Philippines seem to be:

3500 pesos = 1+1 months (some people have been able to get this for 2.5-3K)

7500 pesos = 3+3 months (some people have been able to get this for 4-5K)

12000 pesos = 6+6 months (some people have been able to get this for 7-9K)

These are just rough estimates though. You might be charged much less or much more than these depending on the promo they have or the lack of one (or at least the lack of a good one).

Medyo malaki talaga yung pinagkaiba ng prices pag may ok na promo, almost seems unfair to the ones who paid regular price lol.

So remember to haggle really really hard for a good deal.

It’s also a good idea to just buy the lifetime membership of Slimmers World if you have the money. No matter what type of promo they give you, a lifetime membership will almost always be a better long term option if you’ve got the cash for it. Being fit requires a lifestyle change after all so it’s a pretty good idea to get this if you can.

From my research lifetime membership rates range from 35000-45000 pesos.

It’s a huge amount to pay onetime but it’s basically like you’re paying the full amount for 3 or 4 years worth of gym use and after that, everything’s free already :).

So it’s a really good deal if you know you’ll be working out in SW for a long time.

If you’re thinking of getting a Personal Trainer you’ll have to spend a little extra. For PT a session seems to cost around 500 pesos or a little over. So for say 10 sessions you’d have to pay around 5k.

I’ve also read that not all their trainers are good or even know what they’re doing. This isn’t really a surprise and it’s the same with both Gold’s and Fitness first so I didn’t expect Slimmers World Philippines to be an exception. I’m sure there are also some good ones but they might be hard to find.

You might be better off doing your own research about fitness and on how to achieve your goals if you’re really serious.

And finally in some branches I read it can get really crowded. Peak hours is when people get off work/school, around 5-7 PM. I even read that it can get so crowded that you actually have to sign up to use the treadmill and your time on it is limited to like 20 or 30 minutes kasi may nakasunod say sa pila. So try to workout during off-peak times.

That’s it for this post :).

Again this is a compilation of information that I got from the net, mostly from their main site and from pinoyexchange like the one I did for my Gold’s Gym post.

So the prices I post here might not be exactly what you’ll be quoted but I think they should be good enough for you to come up with an estimate at least. Also some of the information here might become outdated and if you notice any, feel free to give me a heads up.

If you’re interested in reading up on the posts at pinoyexchange or asking questions to actual members fo Slimmers World Philippines you might want to check out these threads:

The above link is the new thread created because the old thread had too many off topic arguments in them. If you’re interested in digging up info from the first thread though here it is:

Thanks for reading this post and if you’re a Slimmers World member and you have any info or tips that might be useful to people who are thinking of joining, please leave a comment below to let me know what it is so I can add it here. Also if you notice anything wrong in this article, give me a heads up so I can correct those as well.

And finally I’d love to hear how much you paid for your membership because I know that’s the most important question for most people. I’d love to be able to keep the prices up to date on this post at least.

Thanks for visiting my blog and stay fit :).

pahabol hehe di papala final yung nasa taas, if you found this or any of my posts useful/informative, I really hope you like it on FB and G+ and share it with your friends.

  3. Margareth 21 May, 2013 at 7:59 pm

Hi! I read the Fitness First, Gold and now this one. You’ve been a great help, thanks!! I just have to ask a couple things, is 17 okay na to start? Or would I still need parental consent? And also, are these gyms allowing monthly membership?

    • Malds 22 May, 2013 at 12:58 am

Hey Margareth, you should be ok to join golds at 17 already but you will still need parental/guardian’s consent. You need to sign a contract when you join the gym and unfortunately you’re not yet at the legal age here in the Philippines. So the contract wont be valid unless it’s not cosigned by your parent/guardian.

Hmmmm I don’t know that many gyms that do monthly memberships. Usually you need to sign up for a lock in first then after that one, you can start paying monthly. Like with my fitness first before, I was locked in for 4 months then afterwards I just paid monthly.

There are some tho like moro lorenzo in ateneo that accepts monthly membership, and I sometimes see deals on groupon or the other group buying sites for 2 months gym use at discounted rates for golds. But at the moment I can’t really think of any other ones.

  4. michymichymoo 28 May, 2013 at 1:36 pm

This is really helpful. I was actually looking for rates for Slimmer’s World since somebody gave me a GC. DO you have any idea how much yung facial treatments nila? Thanks! 🙂

    • Malds 28 May, 2013 at 4:41 pm

Sorry michy, I have no idea how much the facials are :(. Never bothered researching those lol.

  5. Don A. 11 June, 2013 at 12:21 pm

    [a “wala lang” comment follows].

I have been a lifetime member since 2000 (long story, that), and my home branch is in Mega. Let’s just say that a lifetime membership is a boon to those willing to buy one, but it can also tempt the slackers among us to not work despite the membership.

I have recently gone back (as in, kahapon lamang), and I’m smarting all over for it. Call it penance for my sins of omission. 🙂

    • Malds 11 June, 2013 at 2:37 pm

the day after a come-back workout from a really long break is always very painful hehe

      • Don A. 12 June, 2013 at 9:00 pm

Tell me about it…. Even as I type this, my shoulders still smart from the day’s exertions. I hope to grow accustomed to the pain and fatigue soon so I can bring back my lifting to 2010 levels (which I cannot now recall).

        • Malds 13 June, 2013 at 10:22 am

Just hit the gym again after a couple of days even if it’s still a bit sore. Workout some other muscle group maybe and do some really easy shoulder exercises to get the blood flowing in there. Should get easier after a week or two.

  6. Lar 11 July, 2013 at 5:16 am

I’m a lifetime member of Slimmers world and good thing about them is that even if you’re inactive for a long time, when you come back, you still get to use the treatments that you’ve paid for at no extra cost.

  7. Nats 15 July, 2013 at 1:55 pm

Hi, was wondering re the lifetime membership.. you can use in all branches or are you stuck to just working out at your home branch?

    • Malds 17 July, 2013 at 1:01 pm

Hey nats, im not a 100% sure on this pero yung last na nabasa ko about it is that yung lifetime membership ng slimmers will allow you to go to all their branches. Yung regular monthly membership ata yung sa isang branch lang.

      • Gypsy 28 September, 2014 at 11:37 pm

Hi! May 2 types of lifetime membership. Yung mas mahal which gold, yun yung kahit saang branch pwede ka yung mas mura yun yung sa home branch mo lang. Also, kapag sa adriatico branch ka nagavail may priviledge kang magswimming sa panpacific.

        • Malds 29 September, 2014 at 9:08 am

Cool, thanks for the info Gypsy 🙂

    • inan perillo (@inanperillo) 17 July, 2013 at 1:26 pm

I’m certain that you get to use all branches with the Lifetime membership. 🙂

  8. inan perillo (@inanperillo) 17 July, 2013 at 1:25 pm

While lifetime membership is great, had mine back in 2004 (or 05), it pose a great threat to motivation as people tend to value it less since they no longer pay for it. And when you don’t see it in your bill, you don’t feel it exists. I haven’t been to slimmers for over a year now and the only reason I bumped into this blog is I’m looking for info on how to enroll to fitness first. 😛

    • Malds 17 July, 2013 at 8:17 pm

lol thanks for the info inan. Fitness is the priciest of the three city gyms tho but the equipment isn’t too bad, at least in the branches I was able to visit back when I was still a member.

  9. Anthony 23 October, 2013 at 10:13 pm

Awesome post! Thanks Man! Btw, would you have a review on paolo villaroel’s bootcamp in rockwell?

    • Malds 26 October, 2013 at 6:54 pm

hmm I do not lol, but will look into this for a future post 🙂

  10. Raqs 27 October, 2013 at 9:00 am

Thanks for this post! Very informative 🙂 Hmm.. so they aren’t offering classes (aero/zumba) in slimmer’s world?

    • Malds 30 October, 2013 at 12:55 pm

Hey Raqs, I’m afraid I can’t be a 100% sure on that. Best you just call them, or better, the branch you plan to go to. They might have different classes and schedules kasi per branch.

    • charlie 13 December, 2013 at 1:34 am

I have just sign up a contract..yes they do have unli aerobics classes…

  11. Alice 5 December, 2013 at 8:58 am

I find your review quite helpful, thank you. I actually have the lifetime card already. I got it a loong time ago and I don’t think I will be using it anymore. I was wondering if I could transfer the membership to my daughter. Is that possible?

    • Malds 5 December, 2013 at 9:16 am

Hey Alice, ang alam ko pwede mo i transfer ang membership. Pero from a quick search online, mukhang sasabihin nila sayo na you have to pay the difference between the current lifetime membership price and the amount you got yours for plus some extra.

try mo itanong kung magkano na yung transfer fee nila ngayon the next time you’re at the gym. Then after mo malaman yung price, try calling anonymously or get a friend to do it and kunwari interested ka/sya kumuha ng bagong lifetime membership. Then see kung alin yung mas mahal.

May nabasa kasi ako sa forums na one person was quoted a transfer fee that ended up being more expensive than a new lifetime membership (after whatever promo they have is applied) which is just wrong lol. They told her ata that the difference between the old price and the current one was 40K which would mean that the current price was 72K (I think she got the original lifetime plan for 32k). Then When she pretended to be new client calling to inquire for a new lifetime membership, they told her current rice was 45 but because they had a promo they could give it to her at 35K lol.

So try asking them first how much they’ll charge you for the transfer. if it’s cheaper than a new membership then you can do that.

      • Alice 14 December, 2013 at 11:05 am

Thanks so much for the info.Last time I was at SW in Megamall I did ask them if I could transfer the membership. The girl told me na hindi daw pwede. She even said na wala na daw offered na lifetime (platinum) membership, at puro gold na lang daw.I guess she’s either misinformed or outright lying.
Sige, I’ll try to do what you suggested and go from there. You have been a great help 🙂

        • Malds 15 December, 2013 at 4:35 pm

          Good luck Alice 🙂

  12. tes 8 December, 2013 at 10:49 am

Cost-wise, Slimmers is really cheaper than Golds or Fitness First. So don’t expect good facilities and service either. You only get what you’re paying for. I’m a member of Trafalgar branch and almost all of the cardio machines (Treadmill, transport, cross trainer, etc.) are not working. Even if you complain about it, they wouldn’t even bother to have these repaired. They also installed small TV screens at the top of the machines but these are not working either. Very poor customer-service too. I filed a complaint against an employee who used my lifetime membership to enroll a non-member under my name and badmouthed me after the sale has been aborted, I didn’t even get an official apology from the gym except for a general system-generated apology from their website! They didn’t even bother to update me on the status of the refund they promised nor answer my texts and calls. Only to find out later that the refund will be not be released on the promised date and form of release!!!!! Very unprofessional! So think twice before you enroll!

  13. chris 8 May, 2014 at 9:55 pm

iam a platinum card holder.clost my membership card almost 10 years ago, found it again. i went to pan pacific branch with a guest. after a month i returned with the same guest. nobody told us that a guest will only be allowed once! basta pag dating namin dun ayaw na payagan yung guest ko kahit nakiusap na kami na last time na namin since hndi namin alam ung rule.. lumipat nalang kami sa ibang branch nung guest ko.. super hindi flexible to the request of lifetime members ang mga staff dito lalo na ung mga receptionist na IDEAL BODY WEIGHT ang required daw pero mukhang underweight nanaman. at mukhang masaya pa na u,alis nalang kami. super hindi nila pinagbibigyan mga lifetime member if you’re thinking of joining as a member can u decidewith only one free session??? sana kung mura lang nga e mahal din anf u dint have the luxury of time din para mag gym everyday so hndi mo din magagamit ung membership to he full potential.. wag kayo mag pa member sa pan pacific… saka favoritism sila sa mga guest ma araw araw pumupunta dun kesa sa mga bago.

  14. nick viyar 16 October, 2014 at 1:24 pm

Im a member of Sw since 1994, everytime i went there im always in my maong shorts and tee shirt. 6 months ago i was approached by a lady fitness instructor, (no name pls) and asked me if i have an extra set of gym shorts, which i didn’t have. She told me that i should leave becuz the australian owners are working out a meter away from me. I told her that i have been a member since 1994 and nobody dared tell me that it is not allowed to wear such attire. “I would like to see your manager” i said, she told me to go ahead but she is out right now. I came back in the afternoon of the same day and told my story. No courtesy and respect to thier buying clients. My wife and daughter are lifetime members and they are always buying treatments which i feel are not doing them any improvements. They are just so good in alluring lady customers in buying thier product.
The manager was very apolegetic and so was the instructor. I still go to the same branch and we always meet everytime. The good thing is, we always give a smile to each other even after the said incident.

    • Malds 16 October, 2014 at 9:57 pm

haha that’s a bit awkward. I honestly don’tknow why some gyms are picky about what to wear to a workout. You’re just gonna sweat on it anyway. As long as it’s loose enough to do your workouts anything should be fine.

I personally just use any old thing I have. Minsan may butas pa tshirt ko. Was never really sold on buying expensive dry fit stuff when I have a lot old shirts in my closet.

Thanks for sharing your story Nick. At least it didn’t end on a bad note. I was half expecting that you’d say at the end na you left the gym because of that incident haha.

  15. tweet aldana 28 February, 2015 at 11:48 pm

Everything you said are true. I have a lifetime membership with slimmers, but sadly I prefer Gold’s over slimmers, but the price difference is definitely a big factor. It’s such a hassle to have to sign up to use the treadmill and to participate in their floor exercises. Such a waste of time waiting in line, reason is you have to sign up 30mins before the actual time the exercise starts, but since there are a lot of people waiting to sign up, you actually have to be there an hour before.

  16. Lilz 19 April, 2015 at 4:37 pm

Hi Malds, thanks for your research…been a member of fitness first since 2010 and i’m enjoying it…yes it’s pricey but i think it’s okay…i’ve tried almost all their group exercises and right now i’m trying out yoga and body balancr classes…parang cheaper pa sila kasi yoga classes are quite expensive sa iba pero sa fitness first, you can do yoga and zumba and even weight training. Soon daw magkakaroon na sila ng aerial yoga at boxing ring kasi introduce na rin nila ang boxing sa pt sessions nila…

  17. ron 26 July, 2015 at 1:13 pm

I got the 1 year membership before with Slimmer’s Pasay Road branch for only 8k. Maganda sa gym na to, decent ang mga tao. The only problem is, di masyadong madami ang branches nila.

  18. Kerby Lindayag 17 October, 2015 at 12:50 pm

Someone’s offering 10k for the lifetime membership but not quite sure of it is legit. On the contrary, to cut down the cost I ended up enrolling to gold’s gym membership under my friend’s perk working on a bpo. I pay her P1,050 per month open to all golds gym branch. 🙂

  19. omer baillargeon 14 November, 2015 at 3:50 pm

We arrived from Canada and want a three month membership or even by the month. Fitness First refuses to accomodate us.
Found them user unfriendly compounded by extremely expensive. Any direction?

    • Malds 17 November, 2015 at 5:05 pm

Find another gym :). Most smaller gyms don’t have the minimum period thing, there are a couple that let you in for just a month (eclipse for example). Or try boxing, crossfit, or any other kind of workout that doesn’t have the lockin period. Most of these let you pay per session and there are branches scattered all over manila so just find one that’s close to where you’ll be staying.

OR if there’s a gold’s gym close by, you can get this one P1425 instead of P4800 for a 1-Month Membership at any Gold’s Gym & Personal Trainer Session.

      • Malds 17 November, 2015 at 5:38 pm

Oh and the deal ends in 16 hours FYI, in case you’re thinking of grabbing that.

  20. Kai 15 January, 2016 at 9:37 pm

Thank you for this Article. Really helpful and practical.

  21. superjam0609 21 January, 2016 at 11:58 am

Zup malds;) do you have any idea if Slimmers do offer Fillers or neurotoxin?i guess they have aesthetic clinic right? thanks…

  22. nold agbada 20 May, 2016 at 2:16 pm

All true. Do not go to the gym on Mondays. Overcrowded. The best days are Tuedays and Fridays and of course holidays because people tend to go on drinking, outing and gimmick. Yes, get a lifetime membership specially if you already a member for two years, you can get it lower than 30K.

  23. Alex 19 November, 2016 at 5:49 am

Worst gym ever…. manloloko pa mga employee! I will never recommend slimmers world! Equipments should be maintained…lagi sira! Palpak reservations nila… slimmers world sucks!!!!
