@sadcloud4742 · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

the chances of anyone seeing this are incredibly slim, but what’s the consensus on GarageBand ? I’m a teenager with four dollars in my bank account and very little experience with music production (as in I’ve made less than ten songs). It took me a while to get past the training wheels that it automatically puts you in, but I like it fine. Is it worth it for me to try and purchase a better tool? Should I wait until I have more practice ? Idk

In America in the early 90's it was shameful to like anything Electronic. It was a subculture. The world has changed.

@martinmartyne3543 · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

I don’t know if he is part of the human race tbh.
This is so advanced it has nothing to
Do with anything a human soul is able to do.

@Ohmygoshan · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

If you weren’t talking so much this video would much shorter and better. So much talking dude it feels like a boring history class.

istg noise enthusiasts are just the wine snobs of the audiophile world.

@meTomWhite · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

3:09 it's just called "Formula" on streaming. Which is fair enough, NOT the first time RDJ blurred the line between title and commonly transcribable language or glyphs.

15:07 did u mean. "evocative"

@sumrandomguy4860 · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

Somehow I can't get behind why this was so revolutionary. Maybe the technical aspects sure, but the sound as it is bores me. Maybe you had to be alive at that time

@JasonBlank · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

I've watched this several times

Hey! Was just listening to my Analogue Bubblebath III (CAT-00897-AA1) [Fluted] as i was creating something for a job i have and decided to go back down my once a year rabbit hole for Richard and your video came up! Long time no see! Hope you are doing well!

To write music, I use a software of a sheet of paper with 5 horizontal lines on it, and a pencil.

@joindemotape · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

The devil himself

@IamVM6 · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

To understand Windowlicker, first look at Richard saying that the "Come To Daddy" video is meant to make fun of extreme metal videos. Then watch the director's cut of the video for Windowlicker. Notice how inflated the dialogue is, then look into the definition of the word "windowlicker".

You're welcome.

1:17 That if I WHAT?

@dleetr · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

I've never had a problem getting RDJ music on the first listen. Probably because his sensibilities are close to mine musically, so I get what he's trying to do because i'd do the same thing (with very different results lol). As for when Syro came out, I liked it, was nice to have some actually completed music from him. The EPs post the Tuss, always seemed like non-worked up idea bags he just chucked into a package for some reason. It felt like he wasn't really on his grind in the same way he had been earlier in his life. As for peak aphex, I think he'll have another moment of total absorption where he creates more tonally and rhythmically complex music again, so who can say what it is. Certainly the music which touched me the most upon first listen, were the non come to daddy tracks on that EP. Since my late teens I never really listen to music over and over again, i usually absorb something and then move on, but I listened that that EP a couple of dozen times at least (music fanbois must think i'm a weirdo but whatever, I write my own music, that's where my head is at most of the time, processing whatever i'm working on whilst i'm not actually doing it, it's the way I've set my brain up). I don't know if that's peak phex'ee, but certainly if someone asked me who'd never heard his music before what to listen to, that would be my first recommendation and it has usually been well received. I haven't listened to it in decades, but thinking about it now i'm hearing one of the melodies coming through my head, lol.

@kufkzxkxzvkdvkxz · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

I’ve never been a fan of his music but I always have respected what he did. People that were not there don’t really understand how wild this shit was at the time.

@PutZ202 · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

but Meta synth isn't on windows yet ;(

@5p0ng3b0b · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

Reminds me of the months I spent mastering the built in sequencer of the casio CZ230S back in the day.

@JazzTechie · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

Aphex Twin, Photek, and Squarepusher are three artists/groups that live in the same 90s space in my head. Could probably toss Nonplace Urban Field in there too.

@rogerbooth-entity-cruncher · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

Imagine you’ve installed Dr. T’s, but YouTube and the internet don’t exist yet.

@0calvin · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

And here I was thinking I was the only weirdo who liked Aphex Twin.

@albybaron · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

Try velvet acid christ

@tacosux691 · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

Didn’t aphex twin create an imagine from the data of the music file or some crazy shit

@biggooba6706 · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

@8B1tbreaks · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

I still to this day use the first build of CoolEditPro for quick sample chopping, peeps think I’m deranged

@NightSkater69 · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

man i just been finding ur videos, always loved apex twins dono why ive avoided this vid, been on a physics kick. @idkwhatthingytochoose · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

this reminds me of how Adachi Rei(an utau) was made by multiplying sounds together in audacity

@richardsaffle · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

This has got to be the 3rd, 4th time or more I’ve watched this video since it released, & I can’t believe I missed the part where you toured w/ the DEP back in the day!?! That makes so much sense!

@Jav202x · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

The fact that Aphex twin still uses windows 98 is crazy

@user-wi9nn6dz8w · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

Autechre from that time aged better

@tooitchy · October 6, 2026 at 3:44 pm

Used to sit around with my friends in high school and talk about what the hell Aphex Twin was using, there were crazy rumors, like he would record some sound in his house, like rubbing his finger on a table and then layer it over and over pitch shift, etc, just to get a single sound, and he'd do that thousands of times with random physical interactions, then use some magic software on top of it. It was a pretty big mystery back in the day, and there's not a lot of artists that can get people to sit around and talk about in that way. Aphex Twin truly is unbelievably influential.
