Zalora Philippines Review – My First Purchase Experience
Zalora Philippines is a local online shopping site that I’ve been running into a lot lately. I see their ads all the time on Facebook, local blogs (you’ll probably see it here as well), and even while I’m doing local searches in Google.
Seeing as I haven’t posted anything in over a week I thought it was about time to write another post. Also since my Misc Tips posts have been fairly popular for some reason I thought I’d write one under that category. The result is this Zalora Philippines Review Post .
It was a timely idea because I’m actually in need of a new messenger bag for may laptop, planner, ipad, etc… My old one gave in and I had been using my brothers bag for awhile because he was staying in Leyte. But now that he’s back in Manila, I can’t keep borrowing his bag anymore.
So I decided to order myself a bag and see how long it’ll take and what the process would entail. I figured this review would be more of an outline of the process that you need to go through to order along with some of my opinions on their purchase process and the delivery time.
So here we go.
Zalora Philippines Order Process:
Step # 1 – First look for something you want
I looked at the bags they had at ZALORA PH Mens and found two that looked good. It would have been nice if I was able to actually touch and try the bags but this is online shopping after all and there’s a price to pay for the convenience it offers.
The first bag I liked was a little formal and cheaper (9++ after shipping) but I settled for the more casual looking Nike messenger bag. I liked the bag because I normally wear casual clothes and I thought this one would better suit my day to day wear.
I would’ve loved to be able to try the bag and to feel the cloth of it because that’s usually a big factor for me when I buy bags. But since I couldn’t it was convenient that Zalora has that feature that allows you to magnify the pictures it has of the product. You just mouse over the area of the picture that you want to enlarge and you’re able to magnify it.
This feature allowed me do a close up inspection of the cloth and the interior of the bag. It’s the same feature that Amazon uses for its products actually so I’m guessing Zalora got the idea to add this from them.
It can’t beat being able to actually touch the product before you buy it but this one at least allows for better inspection so kudos to Zalora Philippines for this.
Step # 2 – Then hit Buy Now
After deciding that I wanted the Nike messenger bag I picked a size (there was only one for this bag) and hit Buy now. If you’re getting shoes or shirts you’ll see different sizes and you’ll have to pick one before you hit the “Buy Now” button. It’s not going to work until you pick a size.
As you can see, this product had free shipping and a cash on delivery option which was nice.
I did some random checks and it seemed like pretty much all their products have the free shipping and cash on delivery option. However I noticed that for some of their products, even if you see the “FREE SHIPPING AVAILABLE” check, you’d still be charged 100 Pesos when you check out.
After some research it seems like the FREE SHIPPING only kicks in if your total purchase equals or exceeds 1,000 Pesos.
If it doesn’t you’ll be charged 100 Pesos for deliveries within Luzon, and 150 Pesos for those that go to Visayas and Mindanao.
Step # 3 – Register & Finalize Your Order
After hitting Buy now, you’ll be brought to your checkout cart. From here you’ll see how much you’ll have to pay for your items. Discounts and shipping fees will automatically be computed here if any apply.
In this page you’ll know what payment options are available to you but you won’t get to pick which one you’ll use till later.
You’ll also notice that there’s a coupon box. If you have a discount coupon you can use it here and the checkout cart will automatically compute your new Total.
I used the 250 Peso discount for joining the Zalora Philippines Newsletter here for my bag order so although it’s not reflected in the pictures (because I took the pictures on a separate order just for this post), my total fee was reduced by 250 Pesos.
Step # 4 – Register or Login
If you hit “Order Now”, assuming you’ve already finished all your shopping, you’ll be asked to either register or login (if you’re not already logged in).
If you’re already member of Zalora Philippines then just login with your email and password to finalize your order. If you aren’t though, you’ll have to click the “ORDER NOW” button on the left side of this page. This will open another page where you’ll be asked to create an account.
It’ll be your standard email, name, birthday, address, etc… form. You’ll just have to fill it up to create an account. So go do that if you want to finish your purchase.
Step # 5 – Pick Your Payment Option and Finish
And finally we get to the end .
You’ll notice that in this page there are three columns. In the first one, you can either check the “deliver to the same address” box or uncheck it. If you uncheck it you’ll have to input another address that’s different from the one that you used in your account.
In the second column, you can pick how you’ll pay for the item. I picked cash on delivery since I didn’t want to use my card. You also have the option to pay through credit card, paypal, and bank deposit though if you want.
And finally, the third column displays the product summary and also has a coupon box. So if you weren’t able to input your coupon code earlier you’ll be able to do it here.
Then just hit “BUY NOW” and your done with your first Zalora Philippines purchase.
Once you finish you’ll receive an email with the confirmation number for your order, expected delivery date (1-3 days if you’re in Manila and 5-7 outside), along with some other information.
Now all you need to do is wait .
How long does it actually take for your item to get to your house?
I wrote this post right after I bought my bag so I ordered it at around 5 PM, 3/19/2013. I’ll see how long it takes to arrive and update this post once I get my stuff.
I live in Metro Manila and it says 1-3 days so we’ll see if it actually arrives on time.
Update 3/21/2013: Bag arrived this afternoon. I was out so I don’t know exactly what time but I think it was between 2 and 6 PM. So it took a total of 2 days. Not bad.
And the final reveal… drum roll please…..
My final thoughts
They’re a pretty good online shopping site. Their product line up isn’t as wide as Amazon or eBay (but there really isn’t anything local that can compare to those two) but they’ve got a lot of good stuff despite the limited choices. They also have a 30 day return policy so if you find problems with your order, you can always give them back. Then the free shipping for purchases over 1000 Pesos is a big plus as well.
Their order process is also fairly simple and even if you’re not the type who orders a lot of stuff online, you wont have any problems. It’s not confusing at all.
And finally my favorite thing about ordering at Zalora is their cash on delivery payment option. This is a really awesome feature especially for those people who don’t have a credit card, who don’t want to be bothered with cash deposits, and for those na masyadong praning gamitin yung card nila online hehe.
I’ve never tried the other local shopping sites but I think all of them should add this payment option to their purchase process if they haven’t already. It just makes thing so much simpler for your regular consumer and it takes away a lot of the risk and fears that most people have when they buy stuff online.
Medyo hindi pa din kasi kampante lahat ng tao na gumamit ng credit card online. I know a lot of people who are like that so I think a pay on delivery option would take down that really huge consumer spending barrier and allow local shopping sites to become more appealing to a greater segment of their market.
So that’s it for this Zalora Philippines Review.
If you’ve still got more questions then you might want to just head on over to their site and check out their FAQs and Policies.
How about you? What’s your opinion on Zalora Philippines? I’d lover to hear them. Just leave a comment below and let me know what you think .
