GNC Fitness Throwdown 2013

A Crossfit Games like event is finally happening here in the Philippines. If you’ve read my posts about Crossfit, then you’ll at least have some idea about what to expect at the GNC Fitness Throwdown.

For those who have never even heard of Crossfit, and I know there are a lot of you, here’s a Crossfit Games video from last year.  This should give you a better idea about what the Throwdown will be like.

It’s not going to be exactly the same (they’re probably not going to require the execution of the exact same workouts) but you get the idea right?

So anyway, let’s just get to the event details shall we :).

GNC Fitness Throwdown

The GNC Fitness Throwdown 2013

WOD Nation, a CrossFit fitness advocacy group that hosts Free Guerilla WOD events around the country, together with GNC are holding the Philippine’s first ever Throwdown. It’s a very different physical toughness event that will test your individual GPP (General Physical Preparedness).

The purpose of this event is to involve everyone into Fitness – give them a taste of weightlifting, body-control (gymnastics) and of course, conditioning as facets that CrossFit exemplifies.

It’s a three leg event happening on:

  • April 28 at the Alabang Town Center Activity Area
  • May24 at the Glorietta 4 Activity Center
  • And June 27 at the Trinoma Mall Activity Center

Event Divisions & Winners

The Throwdown will have four divisions:

  • Individual Men’s Masters for participants 30 and over
  • Individual Men’s Masters for participants under 30
  • Individual Women’s Masters for participants 30 and over
  • Individual Women’s Masters for partucipants under 30

There will be three winners for each division: Champion, 1st runner up, and 2nd runner up.

Then after all three legs are finished, an over all champion will be named for each division.

So that’s three winners for leg 1, leg 2, and leg 3 (total of 9 for each division) then one over all champion at the end of everything (again for each division).

How do you join?

Joining is easy and it’s open to anyone who is qualified and who’s looking for something physically challenging.

  1. First off, you have to be at least 18 years old and must not be suffering from any medical health condition.
  2. If you’re qualified, head to any GNC store in the Metro Manila area and ask for a registration form then fill it up. You can also download the form here and complete it before you go to a GNC store: Download Registration Form.
  3. Pay the 1,000 peso registration fee after submitting your form.
  4. You’ll be given a claim stub after finishing your registration. Keep it and make sure you bring it on the day of the event in order to get your GNC Fitness Throwdown Participant Kit.
  5. Then just show up on the day of the event and throwdown :).

Crossfit Mad Minute and Crossfit Insurrecto, where the people that make up WOD Nation come from, are also authorized representatives and partners for the event. If you’re thinking of registering through these two establishments, here are some details that you’ll need to get in touch with them.

If Maka train ako this and next month ng maayos I might join sa third leg kung may pangbegginers talaga hehe.
