2013 Philippine Holidays to watch out for

You need to know all the 2013 Philippine Holidays if you’re planning to do some out of town trips this year. Can’t miss those long weekends now can we ;).

I love to take advantage of long weekends and recently I’m either at Mt Pulag or in Baler to surf whenever there’s a 3 day weekend.

This Feb though me and my friends are heading to Palawan and I’m really excited kasi next week na yun (Feb 25 is a holiday so my friends already took leaves from their work).

But anyway, enough about me ;).

Let’s get back to the this year’s list of Philippine Holidays so that you can plan your own trips.

This list is based on the announcement made by Malacañang late last year, Proclamation No. 459, S. 2012. I’m arranging them chronologically.

  • Jan. 1, New Year’s Day (Tuesday)
  • February 25, EDSA People Power Commemoration (Monday)
  • March 28, Maundy Thursday
  • March 29, Good Friday
  • March 30, Black Saturday
  • April 9, Araw ng Kagitingan (Tuesday)
  • May 1, Labor Day (Wednesday)
  • June 12, Independence Day (Wednesday)
  • Aug. 21, Ninoy Aquino Day (Wednesday)
  • Aug. 26, National Heroes’ Day (last Monday of August)
  • Nov. 30, Bonifacio Day (Saturday)
  • Nov. 1, All Saints’ Day (Friday)
  • Nov. 2, All Souls’ Day (Saturday)
  • Dec. 24, Christmas’ Eve (Tuesday)
  • Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve (Tuesday)
  • Dec. 25, Christmas Day (Wednesday)
  • Dec. 30, Rizal Day (Monday)

You’ll notice that I highlighted the Monday and Friday holidays because those are your best bets for long weekend trips (assuming wala kang trabaho sa weekend).

I excluded Dec. 30 because… well it’s almost new year and it’s hard to miss as a long weekend. Alam naman natin lahat wala pang pasok during that time till after new year.

There are a total of 17 holidays in this list so you can expect at least that many. We never know if there’ll be more that’ll be added this year though but these ones are the sure ones.

So plan your out of towns now and book your tickets early so you can save some cash on the plane tickets :).

Have fun!!!
